Fred
Lee Barrett, 78, of Choctaw, OK passed away at home on January
17, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Fred was born January 19, 1930
to Virgil and Mildred Barrett at Waldron, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Barrett one
brother, Ted Barrett, Del City 2 sons, Fred Barrett, Jr. and
wife Barbara, Allen, OK and Johnny Barrett, Choctaw, OK 2
grandchildren, Fred Barrett, III and wife Lesli, Ada, OK and
Jennifer "Jenny B", Choctaw, OK and 1 great grandson, Sean Shaw,
Jr., Jones, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Paul
Barrett, Waldron, AR. Fred grew up in McLoud, OK and graduated
from H.S. there in 1948. He retired from OG&E in 1987 after
37 years as a lineman and trouble shooter. Fred was the owner
and operator of "Barrett Electric" in Choctaw for 40 years. He
took great pride that both of his sons were electricians and his
grandson was an electrical lineman. He was also retired from the
Choctaw Volunteer Fire Department and served as the Town
Marshall of Choctaw in the mid-1950s. Fred loved the outdoors
and was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a life member of
the NRA. Fred loved his Lord and Savior and his church, First
Baptist Church, Choctaw where he was a member for 55 years and
served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.
Services will be held Monday, January 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at
the First Baptist Church of Choctaw with burial to follow at
Elmwood Cemetery, Choctaw
