Rosella Berry was often thought of as supermom because she
mothered nine stepchildren in addition to her own three.
Berry, a former San Bernardino resident, died June 8 of lung
cancer at Tahlequah City Hospital in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She
was 63. Berry was born December 19, 1940 in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma. She married Anthony Cavola and moved to San Bernardino
in the early 1970s. Cavola preceded her in death in 1984. While
in San Bernardino, Berry worked as a waitress at the Golden
Dragon restaurant and sold Avon in her spare time. "Rosie was
outgoing and outspoken and she sure liked to talk," said Lillian
Cavola, her former sister-in-law. Berry also enjoyed frequenting
yard sales and flea markets.
Berry relocated to Oklahoma in 1977 to be closer to her family
and care for her sick mother. In 1985, she married Bob Berry.
They were married for 17 years. Survivors include her husband,
Bob Berry of Tahlequah, one son, Bill Richardson of Oklahoma
City, OK; two daughters, Nancy Rodgers of Ruidoso, NM, and
Loretta Bair of Oklahoma City, OK; her mother, Grace Isabell of
Tahlequa, OK; one sister, Darlene Knight of Colgate; one
brother, Ross Houghland of Las Vegas, NV; five stepdaughters,
Melan Gunn of Topeka, KS, Irene Loman of Mcloud, OK, Sheila
Standlee of McCloud, OK, Brendy Hammons of Tecumseh, OK, and
Cindy Ragsdale of Midwest City, OK; four stepsons, Leon Cavola
of Oklahoma City, OK; Randy Berry of Fritch, Texas, Greg Barry
of Welston, OK and Cliff Barry of Jones, OK.
Services were held. Arrangements were handled by Green County
Funeral Home Chapel in Tahlequah, OK.
