BIERCE FUNERAL OCCURS TUESDAYS

Only Intimate Friends of Family Will Be in Attendance. 

The funeral services of the late William W. Bierce, whose death occurred at 9:40 Saturday night, will be held at the residence, 301 West Thirteenth street, at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon

At the request of Mrs. Bierce and the immediate family, the services will be as simple and as private as possible. Only the intimate friends of the family are expected to attend the services. The Reverend E. L. Conger. for many years a close friend of the deceased and the family and a near relative, will conduct the funeral services. Rev. Conger is now in the city. His home is in Pasadena, Cal. Burial will be in the Fairlawn cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of Columbus Bierce, of Memphis, Tenn., brother of the deceased, and Richard A. Vose, a relative of the family. Mr. Bierce arrived in Oklahoma City Sunday night.

The death of Mr. Bierce came as a surprise not only to the people of Oklahoma City, generally, but to his intimate friends, despite the fact that he had been ill for many weeks. The seriousness of his illness was known only to Mrs. Bierce, the immediate family, and the attending physicians. The grief to Mrs. Bierce has been intense. She was ill Sunday, and declined to meet friends who called at the residence.

Mr. Bierce was one of the most prominent citizens of Oklahoma City. His death will cause a Change in the directorate of many of the state's largest corporations. He was interested in a number of concerns, not only in Oklahoma City and this State, but in other cities and states.

Mr. Bierce gained his immense wealth throughout the sale 'of his patent of a cotton' compress, called the ."Bierce Press!' Soon after the Invention; the patent press was installed 'in practically, all the gins throughout the cotton, territory of the country.

For several years prior to the consolidation of the Illinois Steel company with the United States. Steel corporation. Mr. Bierce was the representative for the southern district of the Illinois company. Then he maintained his office and residence in Chicago, while his brother, Columbus Bierce, was the representative in New Orleans.s
