Elizabeth Donovan Blair was born in Champaign, Illinois on
December 31, 1947 and peacefully passed away on her 61st
birthday while surrounded by family and loved ones.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Norman High School and attended
the University of Oklahoma, where she studied fashion
illustration and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.
After receiving her undergraduate degree, Elizabeth married
the late Michael Allen Elder, and together they raised four
children. Elizabeth returned to school to study law and received
her Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University in 1992.
Elizabeth also found time to devote to her community,
volunteering with the Junior League of Oklahoma City and serving
as a past President of Ballet Oklahoma. Elizabeth was a creative
and talented woman with a passion for design, the law, and her
community. While Elizabeth had many talents and interests, her
most cherished roles were those she played in her own family, as
a daughter, sister, aunt, loving mother and grandmother.
Preceding Elizabeth in death are her brother, Lance CPL USMC,
W. W. Blair Jr., and her father, W. W. Blair.
Elizabeth is survived by her mother, Jean D. Blair; her son
Michael Blair Elder and his wife Ashley Waul Elder and their
children, Jacob, Andrew, and Abigail; her son David Allen Elder
and his wife Adrienne Ballew Elder and their son, James; her son
James Robert Elder and his wife Elizabeth Billipp Elder; and her
daughter Elizabeth Anne Elder Graves and her husband Dr. Jeffery
Justin Graves. Elizabeth is also survived by her brothers, J.
David Blair and Robert G. Blair, and her sisters, Patricia Jane
Bender, Margaret Ann Blair, and Mary Alice Blair. Elizabeth left
her friends and family with a lifetime of memories and will be
dearly missed.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 5,
2009 at the memorial chapel of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper located
at 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Junior League of
Oklahoma City.
