Daily Oklahoman, The
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
August 31, 2006, pg 15A

Doris Mappin-Brown died the 27th day of August, 2006, after a heroic battle with cancer. She was born in Chetopah, Kansas on January 17, 1927, and lived most of her life in Colorado in the shade of her beloved Rocky Mountains. Her greatest joy in life was found in her family, her church, and a vast array of friends who will keep her spirit alive through loving memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Jessie Longenbaugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Louis Rogers of Meeker, Colorado, who was the father of her surviving son, Allan Lance Rogers, of Bullhead City, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Walter Mappin, of Golden, Colorado, who was the father of her surviving children, Penny Mappin of Blacksburg, VA; Max and Tina Mappin of Baltimore, MD; and Pamela Mappin of Tulsa, OK.

She is also survived by three precious granddaughters: Andrea Rogers Lipo and her husband Jim, along with their daughter, Lexi, of Phoenix, AZ; Candice Rogers Ngo and her husband Huy of Silver Springs, MD; and Alexandria Mappin of Baltimore, MD. She was also preceded in death by her husband, D. Roy Brown. Doris' good humor, her tendency to adopt everyone into her family and her deep devotion to her family and friends will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 1, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, 6789 N.W. 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK, and will be arranged by Mercer-Adams Funeral Service (405) 495-4363. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to: Carilion Hospice of the New River Valley, 707 Randolph Street, Suite 251, Radford, Virginia 24141
