Doris Mappin-Brown died the 27th day of August, 2006, after a
heroic battle with cancer. She was born in Chetopah, Kansas on
January 17, 1927, and lived most of her life in Colorado in the
shade of her beloved Rocky Mountains. Her greatest joy in life
was found in her family, her church, and a vast array of friends
who will keep her spirit alive through loving memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Jessie
Longenbaugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan
Louis Rogers of Meeker, Colorado, who was the father of her
surviving son, Allan Lance Rogers, of Bullhead City, AZ. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Max Walter Mappin, of Golden,
Colorado, who was the father of her surviving children, Penny
Mappin of Blacksburg, VA; Max and Tina Mappin of Baltimore, MD;
and Pamela Mappin of Tulsa, OK.
She is also survived by three precious granddaughters: Andrea
Rogers Lipo and her husband Jim, along with their daughter,
Lexi, of Phoenix, AZ; Candice Rogers Ngo and her husband Huy of
Silver Springs, MD; and Alexandria Mappin of Baltimore, MD. She
was also preceded in death by her husband, D. Roy Brown. Doris'
good humor, her tendency to adopt everyone into her family and
her deep devotion to her family and friends will be missed by
all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 1, 2006, at 10:00
a.m., at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, 6789 N.W. 39th
Expressway, Bethany, OK, and will be arranged by Mercer-Adams
Funeral Service (405) 495-4363. Interment will follow at
Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has
requested that donations be made to: Carilion Hospice of the New
River Valley, 707 Randolph Street, Suite 251, Radford, Virginia
