COWETA,
Okla. -- Former University of Oklahoma All-American
defensive end Rick Bryan has died at age 47, Saturday, July 25,
2009.
Bryan died Saturday night at his home in Coweta.
Former OU coach Barry Switzer said Bryan suffered heart failure.
Bryan was a three-time All-Big 8 selection and a two-time
All-American. He holds the OU record for tackles by a lineman
with 365.
Bryan's brothers, Mitch and Steve, also played at OU.
He was drafted 9th overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1984
NFL draft and spent nine seasons with Atlanta.
Among his
survivors are his wife, Shelby; son Mike, who is an
All-Conference USA linebacker at the University of Tulsa; and
two daughters, Jenni and Kristin.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. at the
Coweta High School gym.
