Roy C. Buckman Dies In Kansas
Member of Oklahoman Staff Succumbs To Attack of Peritonitis
Roy C. Buckman, member of the reportorial staff of The Daily Oklahoman, is
dead at his home in Lyndon, Kansas. Peritonitis caused his death. The funeral
will take place tomorrow.
Mr. Buckman was 27 years old. He had been employed on newspapers in Topeka,
Kansas City, St. Joseph and Oklahoma City for a number of years.
He came to Oklahoma City from St. Joseph five months ago. His health began
to fail in September and toward the latter part of that month he was stricken
with typhoid fever. He went to his home September 27 and two weeks later was
so greatly improved that it was expected that he would be able to return to
Oklahoma City within a few days. He had a relapse, however, and peritonitis
developed. A letter from his father, written last Saturday, said that it was
believed that the crisis had been passed and that the young man would recover
rapidly. There was a sudden change for the worse, however, and death came at
6:15 o'clock yesterday morning.
Mr. Buckman had a wide acquaintance in the middle west and was looked upon
by men in his profession as being possessed of more than ordinary ability. He
made friends readily and was prolific as a writer.
