CARMACK Robert S. was born August 26, 1912, the first son of Mr. & Mrs. S. W. Carmack, III, Gould, Oklahoma. He graduated from Gould High School in 1930, from Oklahoma State University 1n 1937, with a B.A. degree; majoring in agriculture and minoring in commerce and government. On June 6, 1942 in Mangum OK. he married Oleta Stephens. A veteran of World War II he was discharged as a First Lieutenant September 21, 1945, having served in Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Southern France. He was returned from overseas duty to establish the first Army Air Force aircraft fire fighting school to train men for overseas duty.
Since 1954, he has been Chairman of the Board and President of the First State Bank of Hinton, Blanchard and Duncan Oklahoma and since 1966 also Chairman of the Board of First Community Bank of Binger, Eakly, Elk City, Hammon, Hinton. In addition, he was President of La Casa Mia Rentals, Inc. Waco, Texas.
He has always had an interest in his church and community activities. He was a member and a deacon of the First Baptist church of Hinton. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and taught men's Bible classes for many years. He served on the General Building Committees and was Chairman of the Finance Committee for the construction of the sanctuary. He served as Chairman of Deacons as well as Chairman of Trustees. He also served on other committees and helped in all functions of the church. H e was a member of the Board of Trustees for the Caddo Baptist Association, Anadarko, Oklahoma, and served four years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma.
He provided funds to help build churches in Brazil and Kenya, and a seminary dormatory in Kenya. He also sponsored mission groups to the Yucatan, Mexico, Canary Islands, and other places. He supported Baptist Student Union ministries at SWOSU and Langston University.
He was a life member of Kiwanis International. He helped organize and was a continuous director of the Hinton Industrial Trust which has been active in bringing industry to the community since 1966. He was past president and Board member of the Hinton Housing Authority which was primarily involved in developing low cost housing in Hinton.
He served as President of the Hinton Chamber of Commerce and on several committees for the Chamber. He served on the Hinton School Board.
He served as President of the Oklahoma Bankers Association, and also served as the Executive member of Oklahoma Bankers Association to the American Bankers Association and as an Advisory Committeeman to the Agricultural Committee of the American Bankers Association. He was a past member of the State Banking Board and was the Oklahoma representive to the Supervisors of State Banks. He held a degree from the Graduate School of Banking, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin.
He was a distinguished Lifetime Member and a Charter Member of the Presidents Club, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. He has been an honorary member of the local F.F.A chapter since 1956 and helped many F.F.A and 4-H boys and girls in their club projects by financing as well as encouraging them to develop their projects.
Bob's interests were his family, church and community, seeking a better place for all to live.
He will be missed by his wife Oleta, his children and their families; Ken and Patricia Ross, Jennifer, Marian and Justin of Longview, Texas; Stephen Carmack, Rob and John of Hinton, Oklahoma; Samuel and Nancy Carmack, Will and Laura of Grapevine, Tx., his sister and family Martha Norwood of Frederick, Ok; his brother and family S.W. and Maxie Carmack of Childress, Tx.; and Tom and Frankie Scivally and family who grew up in the Carmack home in Gould and presently live in Amarillo, Tx. and by many relatives and friends.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Robert S. Carmack Memorial Trust c/o Baptist Foundation, 3800 N. May, Oklahoma City or the Norman Smith Memorial LIbrary of Hinton. Services will be 2pm Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Hinton, Ok.

Carmack, Oleta Stephens Carmack who died Friday, June 18, 1993, was born May 25, 1914 to Joel and Alice Stephens in Nocona, Texas. She was a 1932 graduate of Nocona High School, attended Anadarko Business College and Cameron University. She later earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma State University in 1940. After graduation, she served as Home Demonstration Agent for Greer County, Ok, during which time she met Robert S. Carmack of Gould. Oleta was married to Robert S. Carmack June 6, 1942, and carried on the family farming operation while Bob was away to war. Oleta and Robert have been residents of Hinton, Oklahoma since 1954. She was a faithful loving wife and mother. Above all, she supported her husband and family making many of their accomplishments possible. Oleta was an active member of First Baptist Church, Hinton, Ok and has served as a Sunday School teacher and member and officer of Women's Missionary Union for more than 40 years. She was a member of the board of Caddo Baptist Association, and was the first woman to ever serve on the Board of Directors of the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma. She was currently serving as a member on the Board of Trustees of Oklahoma Baptist University. She and her husband served as co-chairman for the OBU Bridging the Centuries Campaign for Western Oklahoma, and were presented Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's 1992 B.H. Carroll Award. She gave her support to the Baptist Student Union work at S.W.O.S.U.,
Weatherford and Langston University, and sponsored mission trips to Yucatan, Mexico, the Canary Islands, and other locations. She helped provide funds to build churches in Brazil and Kenya dna seminary dormitory in Kenya. She was one of the founders and Chairman of the Norman Smith Memorial Library in Hinton.
In business, she was the Managing Officer of La Casa Mia Rentals, Inc. of Waco, Texas for the past twenty years. She was also currently serving as a Director at First State Bank, with offices at Hinton and Duncan, Ok and also First Community Bank, with offices at Binger, Eakly, Elk City, Hammon, and Hinton, Ok.
Because of her accomplishments as a mother, a christian leader, a community leader, and a businesswoman, Oleta was honored as Oklahoma's Mother of the Year in 1985.
Her survivors include her children and their families, Ken and Patricia Ross, Jennifer, Marian and Justin, of Longview, Texas; Stephen Carmack, Rob and John, of Hinton, Oklahoma; Samuel and Nancy Carmack, Will and Laura, of Grapevine, Texas; her sister, Irene Gibbons of Verden, Oklahoma; her brother, Robert J. Stephens of Anadarko, Oklahoma; C.A. Stephens of Anadarko, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joel and Alice Stephens; one brother, V.B. Stephens, and Robert S. Carmack, her husband of 50 years.
Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, First Baptist Church in Hinton. Directed by Hinton Turner Funeral Home.

The wedding of Miss Oleta Stevens, Mangum, and Robert S.
Carmack, Waurika, was solemnized at the First Christian church,
Mangum, the morning of June 6 with the Reve Ernest Mobeley,
pastor officiating.
Preceding the traditional "The Bridal Chorus" from
Lohengrin (Wagner) played by Miss Ruth Hagar, Gould, cousin of
the bridegroom, Miss Margaret Reeves, Goud, sang.
