Bannon's Wound May Prove Fatal
Condition of Man Shot By Stokes Clark Last Night Reported
Critical
Mart Bannon, shot in the left shoulder in a fight at 129 West
Washington avenue Saturday night, lies in a serious condition at
the St. Anthony hospital where he was taken after the accident.
Lige Gable, charged with killing Stoke Clark and wounding Bannon,
is held in the county jail. Mrs. Nettie Keifer, the woman at
whose hose the shooting occurred is held in the city jail as a
witness, together with Buford Hayes, who went to the house with
Bannon and the man who was killed.
Gable refused to talk of the shooting Sunday. She stated that
he would not talk until the proper time and that then he would
talk to the jury and the judge. He said, however, that the
shooting was in self defense and that the men had come to the
house to kill him.
No funeral arrangements have been made for Clark. He is being
held at the Street & Draper morgue.
