Carolyn
Jane (Janey) Clark died peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2009 at
her home in Mustang, OK as a result of breast cancer. The third
child of Jess Winson and Ethel Mary (Vorhis) Hopkins, Janey was
born December 20, 1943 at the home of her maternal grandparents,
southwest of Chandler in Lincoln County, OK.
Janey was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Putnam City
High School in 1962. She moved to Mustang, OK in 1972. Janey
loved babies and taught toddlers in Sunday School for 48 years,
first at Putnam City Methodist Church in Warr Acres, then at
Chisholm Heights Baptist Church in Mustang. She enjoyed her work
as a secretary. She worked for American Fidelity Insurance Co.
for 26 years and for Hobby Lobby Mfg. for 7 years before
retiring in May 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant great
nephew, Garrett Shaffer.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law John and Sharon
Hopkins of Guthrie sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Richard
Amen of Oklahoma City four nieces, Julie and Craig Stone of
Stillwater, Jesica and Mark Cannon of Oklahoma City, Dixie and
Randy Shaffer of Guthrie and Lacy Amen of Oklahoma City also by
two great nieces Keela Stone and Bailey Shaffer, and special
friend Bill Owens of Mustang. Services will be held at 10am on
Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church in
Mustang. Janey will be laid to rest across the road from where
she was born in Star Valley Cemetery, Southwest of Chandler, OK.
Arrangements are being handled by McNeil's Mustang Funeral
Service, Mustang, Oklahoma.
