Pneumonia Attacks Family; Three Die
Pneumonia is fast wiping out the family of George D. Clay, a highly
respected citizen of this place. Mr. Clay and his wife, Mrs. Carrie Clay
and daughters, Norma and Mary, have been sick with it for two weeks. The
mother of Mrs. Clay, Mrs. Mary Varner, nursed them until she was taken
sick with it. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. Clay died. On Wednesday forenoon just
as Mrs. Clay's body was being placed in the casket for burial, Mr. Clay died.
On Wednesday night Mrs. Varner, the mother-in-law and nurse, died and both
daughters are now so low that little hope is entertained of their recovery.
