Bad Negro Shot By Officer, Dead

While sitting erect in bed, following a request for a cup of tea, and with appearances indicating that he would rapidly recover, William Clay alias William Wilson, the alleged bad negro, who was shot three times by officer Warren C. Sadler last Saturday night, died at 10 o'clock yesterday morning at St. Anthony's hospital, where he was taken immediately after the trouble.

It is probable that burial will take place this afternoon.

The trouble between Clay and Officer Sadler was the result of the negro's assault upon the officer...

Clay bore the reputation of being a desperate character.
