Thelma Ann [Woolever] Cochran, 74 of Dallas ,died of respiratory
failure Feb 13,2003, in Dallas. She was a loving and energetic
lady who raised three outstanding children and won ribbons at
the State Fair of Texas for her original creations.
She was born Aug 11, 1928, in Waterloo Okla., but grew up in
southern Cal, She graduated from Central State University in
Edmond Okla., and in Feb 1953 married Robert L. Cochran. They
had twin sons who both became physicians and a daughter who is a
writer and University Marketing Dir. Mrs. Cochran wrote a story
about growing up during the Great Depression called "The
Baby Doll" It was selected for publication in Good Old Days
magazine's Dec 2003 issue. She also researched and wrote
detailed family histories of her family and her husband's family
and made them into books with many photographs. She was a long
time member of Prestonwood Baptist Church's Encouragers class
and was active for 14yrs at the Campbell Green Recreation
Center, where she also served as secretary of the advisory
council. Mrs. Cochran loved quilting, gardening, flower
arranging and crafts of many kinds. She was always making
something for one of her many friends and relatives.
She is survived by her husband of 50 yrs Robert L. COCHRAN ;
sons Donald R. COCHRAN, M.D. of Dallas and Ronald J. COCHRAN,
M.D. of El Campo, daughter Nancy COCHRAN LeMay of Coppel,
grandchildren Abby COCHRAN, Jack COCHRAN, and Melanie LeMAY;
brothers John WOOLEVER of Tulsa, Bill WOOLEVER of Mid West City,
Okla., and Tom WOOLEVER of Edmond; sisters Patricis WOOLEVER of
Stillwell, Okla. and Mary GEORGE of Del City and many nieces and
nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:p.m. Sat at Prestonwood
Baptist Church with burial at the Dallas-Fort Worth National
Cemetery at 2:pm Monday, Feb 17, 2003.
