Luther Man Denies He Fired Gun At Babb
Following a dispute over the payment of a $50 loan between Albert G.
Cole and a business man of Luther, and C. C. Babb, and (sic)
adjuster for the Hundley Dry Goods company of St. Joseph, Mo., Babb yesterday
swore out a warrant for Babb (sic) in Justice E. D. Overfield's court charging
him with assault with the intent to kill. Babb was arraigned yesterday and
pleaded not guilty. His hearing was set for March 19 and his bond was fixed at
$500. J. Carl Finch, a banker of Luther is surety.
Cole denied absolutely last night the charge that he had fired a shot at
Babb, branding it as malicious.
"I can prove that I never raised a hand or fired a bullet at
Babb," said Cole.
Cole has been a resident of Oklahoma county since August 1899, several
months after the opening.
