Donna Jo Collins
1930-2006

Funeral services for Donna Jo Collins, 76, a former Edmond resident, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church in El Reno with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Edmond.

Arrangements under the direction of Yanda & Son Funeral Home of Yukon.

Collins was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Shamrock, Texas, and died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, in Oklahoma City.

She graduated from Byers High School at the age of 16. Collins met her future husband, Boyd Kimmel Collins in Waurika in 1947. They were married for 59 years.

In 1971, the couple moved to the Edmond area where she began her nursing career. She obtained her LPN license in 1971 and her RN license in 1980. She worked in the Emergency Room at Edmond Hospital for 13 years.

In 1993, they moved to their final home outside El Reno. She was an active member of the Trinity Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon M. Stewart and Ceble Reynolds Stewart; one brother, Robert Stewart and one grandson.

Survivors include her husband, Boyd Kimmel Collins of the home; one son, Kimmel Stewart Collins of Bixby; three daughters, Nola Duncan of Mustang, Mari Collins of Mustang and Marja McCart and of El Reno; one brother, John Stewart of Edmond; one sister, Marion Bruemmer of LaPlata, Md.; and four grandchildren.
