George Leon Cook
The funeral for George Leon Cook will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at
Central Valley Chapel in Central Point. A private cryptside
service will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Cook, 78,
of Central Point, died Friday (Dec. 21, 2001) at Providence
Medford Medical Center. He was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Muskogee,
Okla. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and in 1948,
in Santa Paula, Calif., he married Ima Jean Fletcher, who
survives. The couple came to the Rogue Valley 40 years ago and
operated Cook's Portable Toilet Service. He enjoyed fishing and
gardening, and spending time with his two small dogs, Tina and
Tiny. He was an avid follower of NASCAR auto racing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Gary Cook,
Central Point, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
