Body Brought To Sallisaw For Services
Sallisaw - Funeral for Bert Cotton Sr., 70, prominent Sallisaw
resident who died in a New Mexico traffic accident Tuesday, will
be announced by the Agent funeral home here.
Cotton, who retired January 1 as an inspector for the state
corporation commission, was a member of the First Christian
church here. A well-known local resident, he was for several
years Sallisaw's chief of police and also served as Sequoyah
county undersheriff under former sheriffs John E. Johnston and
the late Charley Hutchens.
A veteran of World War I, Cotton was a member of the local
American Legion Post and Odd Fellows.
Survivors are his wife, Ruby; a son, Dr. Bert Cotton Jr.,
Pasadena, Calif.; four brothers, Bob and Carl, Sallisaw, and
Guy, Meeker, and Earl Cotton, Tulsa; a sister, Mrs. Bill
Stewart, Sallisaw; and two grandsons.
Burial will be in Sallisaw City Cemetery.
