Michael
Joseph "Mike" Dechant, 49, was born March 19, 1960 in Hays, KS
to Donald "Donnie" F and Karen (Seaman) Dechant. Mike left this
earthly home on Fri., Aug. 7, 2009 to live eternally with our
Lord. He passed away due to complications of cancer and
congestive heart failure. Mike graduated in 1978 from Yukon High
School, Yukon, OK. He medaled in track & field, football and
basketball, among other sports. After high school he worked at
Alan Miller's Woodworking in Lacrosse, KS. He then returned to
Oklahoma, where he worked for the Yukon Mining Company, Xerox
Corp, Schwarz Ready-Mix for 10 years and Wal-Mart until his
death. Mike was very proud of being confirmed after many years
serving as a devoted mass server.
He married the love of his life, Cindy Dalene Milam Ratliff, on
July 4, 2003. Mike is preceded in death by his father,
Donald F. Dechant (passed away at the age of 26 due to a tractor
accident); stepfather, E.J. "Blackie" Depperschmidt and a
stepson, Nicholas Paul Ratliff.
Mike leaves behind his wife, Cindy Dechant of the home; mother,
Karen Depperschmidt; brother, Mark Dechant; stepson, Jason K.
Ratliff & wife Vikki; two sweet grandchildren: Madisyn Ratliff
and David White; two wonderful nieces: Ashley Dechant and Taylor
Dechant and one special nephew, Tyler Dechant. Memorial
donations will be graciously accepted by St. John Nepomuk
Catholic Church, P.O. Box 850249, Yukon, OK 73085. Viewing will
be held Sun. 1 pm - 8 pm & Mon. 9 am - 8 pm. The family will
receive friends, and a Rosary will be said, at 7 pm, Mon. at the
Yanda & Son Funeral Home, Yukon. Mass of Christian Burial will
be held at 10 am, Tues., Aug. 11, 2009, at St. John Nepomuk
Catholic Church, Yukon, with interment at 3:00 pm at the Ceres
Cemetery, (NE of Perry, OK) Ceres, OK.
