Vera Marie (Ivy) Devinish entered this world on September 17,
1917 and completed her journey April 1st, 2009. Born in
Shamrock, OK to Thomas H. Ivy and Onie R. Ivy, Marie spent her
formative years in and around Wynona, OK and Seminole, OK. In
1930, the family relocated to Oklahoma City. Marie graduated
from Foster High School in 1935. The following year, she married
James Carl “Jiggs” Ray. This marriage ended in 1940.
In 1941,
Marie married David A. “Jack” Devinish and they made their home
in Del City where they raised two children, Janice and Tommy.
Marie was a loving wife, devoted mother and caring grandmother
who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by parents, her husband, her
daughter, Janice Scheibner, and her brother, Dennis Ivy. Left to
honor her memory are Tommy and Peggy Devinish ; grandchildren,
Lisa and Ed Stephenson and sons, Drew and Brandon; Chris and
Jenifer Scheibner and children, Jordan, Cory, Cole and Cody;
Michael and Crystal Devinish and son, Daniel; nephew, Mike Ivy.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2009
in the mausoleum at
Arlington Memorial Cemetery, Midwest City. The family
invites friends to join them for lunch at the Candlewood Chapel
at Ford Funeral Service from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite
animal charity.
