Lawrence L. DeWald, age 57, of 2012 Churchill Way, city
printer and cafe operator, died Tuesday in Will Rogers hospital. He had been ill
since 1945 with a heart condition.
Services will be at 4 pm Wednesday in Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. Burial is
to be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
A native of Texas, DeWald came to Oklahoma City in 1923. A World War I veteran,
he had served overseas with the U.S. expeditionary force in France. He was a
printer by trade, and for six years - from 1931 until 1937 owned and operated
his own shop at 216 NW 2. He later owned and operated a cafe.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Oklahoma City chamber of
commerce.
He is survived by his wife, Clarissa, of the home; two sons, Leon L. DeWald,
Seminole, Texas and Jack J. DeWald, 3023 NW 16: and a daughter, Mrs. C. E.
Erwin, Victoria, Texas and a brother, V. H. DeWald, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
