Funeral service for Willard J. Edge, Sr., 82, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Bible Baptist Church, Chickasha. Willard J. Edge, Sr. was born October 26,1926 in Pittsburg, Kansas the son of George W. and Maud (Ritter) Edge. On July 20, 2009, he went to be with the Lord and his wife, Betty.

Willard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He then served in the Oklahoma National Guard. Willard was saved in 1951. He joined the OHP in 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma. He moved to Chickasha from Haskell, Oklahoma in 1962. Willard served over 20 years for Oklahoma Highway Patrol retiring in 1981. He then worked for City of Chickasha Water Department and retired after 10 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion, Oklahoma State Peace Officers Association and the Retired Troopers Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Edge, 1 sister, Beatrice Andrade, and his parents.

Survivors include 4 children, Peggy Ratcliff of Oklahoma City, Willard J. Edge, Jr. of Norman, Susan Edge Bliss of Chickasha, David Edge and wife Patty of Hugo; 4 stepchildren, Larie Beldon of Waco, TX, Rene' Huggins and husband Jerry of Chickasha, Michelle Smith and husband Wayne of Lawton, Michael Florey and wife Jeanne of Chickasha; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren of whom he was very proud and loved dearly. Along with nieces and a host of friends.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
