Eunice C. (Burch) Edwards was born to Charles Allen and Lena
Pearl (Hart) Burch, on April 9, 1921, at the Hart Homestead,
east of Geary, OK. She passed away on September 20, 2007, at
Parkview Hospital, El Reno, OK, at the age of 86. Eunice
attended school in Geary and graduated from Greenfield High
School in 1937. She later graduated from SWOSU in Weatherford
with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education in 1946. Eunice
then received her Master's Degree in Elementary Education
specializing in Reading from UCO in Edmond, OK. She taught 1st
and 2nd grade at John Glenn Elementary in Oklahoma City for 19
years. Eunice was the dorm mother at OCU Walker Hall for 7 1/2
Years. She was a member of UMW and a member of Ridgecrest United
Methodist Church and an associate member of the Geary United
Methodist Church, and attended the Hinton UMC.
Survivors include son, Eddie Edwards of OKC, OK; daughter,
Laurie C. Brough and husband, John of Geary, OK; 6
grandchildren, Eileen Johnson and husband, Jeremy of Pryor, OK,
Sarah Crockett and husband, Brian of Marlow, OK, Emily C.
Edwards-Brough of Geary, OK, Brendan Brough of Geary, OK, Philip
Brough of Butler, NJ, Kris Cronhelm and husband, Theo of
England; 2 great grandchildren, Katy Ann Crockett of Marlow, OK,
and Stephen Cronhelm of England; 1 cousin, Benton Hart of Warr
Acres, OK; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and friends.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Allen
and Lena Pearl Burch; 2 brothers, John and Paul Burch; 1 sister,
Iva Miller; 2 nieces, Dorothy McCoy and Opal
Buser ; and nephew,
Ralph Miller. Memorial donations may be made in Eunice's memory
to Geary First United Methodist Church, Geary, OK.
Services: Ridgecrest United Methodist Church, Wednesday, 3:00
pm, September 26, 2007, at N.W. 25th and Portland, OKC, OK, and
Saturday, September 29, 2007, 11:00 am, First United Methodist
Church, 321 W. Main in Geary, OK. Officiating: Dr. James Hill
and Rev. Karen Slater. Burial: Geary Cemetery, Geary, OK,
September 29, 2007, services under the direction of Turner
Funeral Home, Geary, OK.
