Legal Fraternity Attends Funeral
All of the courts at the district courthouse adjourned from
2:30 to 3:30 Monday afternoon and the offices of the clerks of
the courts closed while the judges, clerks and a great number of
local attorneys attended the funeral of Charles R. Engelke, the
young lawyer who died of typhoid fever Saturday night. The bar
association also had a special meeting at which resolutions were
drawn up by a committee consisting of J. S. Estes, R. A.
Kleinsmidt, A. M. Munden and W. P. Knapp, commending Engelke
highly, which were passed unanimously.
Charles R. Engelke was born in Iowa in 1878 and came to
Oklahoma City in 1904. His parents still reside at Sidney, Iowa.
He was of good character, learning and integrity and stood high
among his fellow attorneys and in the community.
