Van
Holland Evans went home to be with the Lord on December 31,
2008.
Welcoming him in heaven are his parents, Carlee Pritchett
Evans and Janette La Rue Evans, as well as his two sisters Edyth
Rose Rexroad and Virginia Sue Evans. Van Evans was born in
Danville, Arkansas on February 18, 1924. He was a WWII veteran,
serving from May, 1943 to April, 1946 in the United States Navy.
Van held a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a
master's degree in Religious Education.
He and his wife Lenora Hanley were married in April, 1949.
Van served the Lord faithfully in FBC Monticello, AR; Gulfport,
MS; Bossier City, LA; and 25 years in El Dorado, AR. He also
served at the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home for three years.
He and Lenora lived in Edmond, Oklahoma at the time of his
death.
Van and Lenora have four children: Lori Leffel, Joyce Reed,
Jan Cantwell, and Steve Evans; twelve grandchildren and eleven
great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Van Evans will be held at First
Baptist Church in El Dorado, AR on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at 3
p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Arkansas
Baptist Children's Home.
