William Lewis "Lew" Flagler

Funeral service for William Lewis "Lew" Flagler, 66, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2000 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

William Lewis Flagler, D.C. was born August 15, 1934 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Williams S. Flagler, D.C. and Mary Hunter Ramsey Flagler, and died Tuesday, October 24, 2000 in Norman Regional Hospital under the compassionate care of Robert C. Spain, M.D.

Dr. Flagler was baptized in and was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chickasha.

After graduating from Chickasha High School, Lew began his preparatory education at the University of Oklahoma and completed his formal education by earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he played on the championship rugby team.

Lew served in the U.S. Army in Europe and received an honorable discharge.

In 1956, he married Nel Greiman of Garner, Iowa. They had four daughters, Cynthia, Sandra, Debra and Nichele. Lew and Nel agreed to terminate the marriage in 1968.

In 1978, Lew married Marianne Cary of Hobart, Oklahoma. Lew and Marianne worked together in their Chiropractic Physicians Clinic until Marianne's death in 1999.

Lew was a gifted and talented tenor and an avid student of the game of golf, a subject he never mastered.

In addition to Marianne, his dad and one brother, Ralph Hunter Flagler, preceded him in death.

He is survived by: his mother: Mary Flagler of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 4 daughters: Cynthia Sjulestad of Glendale, Arizona, who assisted him through the rigors of chemotherapy, Sandra Wagner of Glendale, Arizona and her three children, Leah, Stephen and Lauren, Debra Flagler of Phoenix, Arizona, Nichele Steward of Phoenix, Arizona and her four daughters, Rheanna, Raelyn, Michael, and Madison; 1 great grandson: Leah's son, Stephen; brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Rita Flagler of Norman, Oklahoma; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Dan and Bernetta Cary of Norman, Oklahoma; sister-in-law: Sally Flagler of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; first wife, Nel, who returned to comfort him during the challenges and opportunities brought on by esophageal cancer; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many many friends.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
