Russell W. Gassei , was born on April 13, 1911 in St. Louis, MO., and died December 29, 1995 at 84 years of age.

He married Georgia E. Trader on July 26, 1933 to which union were born, Marilyn, Martha and John.

He attended St. Louis schools excelling as a gymnast, winning Gold and Silver Medals in the pommel horse and parallel bars in an AAU Tournament. Mr. Gassei taught Tap and Acrobatic Dance and performed Adajio Ballet.

He moved to Oklahoma City from St. Louis, MO. in 1936. He drove an 18 wheeler for 28 years and was associated in sales with Sears and Roebuck. Mr. Gassei assisted in starting the first free organ class in 1968, while working at Conn Organ Studios in piano and organ sales. In recent years he was associated with Gilliam Music Co.

He was preceded in death by his first wife.

In 1972, he married Susan Hamilton Teasley and together they belonged to the Avion Travelcade Club, during which time they RV'd all over the United States. He and Susan both played the organ and piano and were members of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was Deacon and Elder and past president of the Men of Westminster. He was also a degree 32 Mason of Siloam Lodge No. 276 Af & AM and a member of Guthrie Consistory.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Hamilton Gassei.

Members of his family are 2 Daughters, Dr. Marilyn Carver of Tulsa and Martha Dyer of Oklahoma City; 1 son, John R. Gassei and wife Edna of Oklahoma City; 7 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Brother, Wallace K. Gassei, and wife Mary Louise of Florissant, MO.; Cousins, Alma and Evelyn Wall, Albert Wall and wife Joan all of Portland, Oregon; also many Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., January 2, 1996 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Dr. Michael Anderson and Dr. Richard Hershberger. Interment will be in Rose Hill Patio Mausoleum.

Susan Hamilton Gassei, died Sunday, November 26, 1989 at St. Anthony Hospital, OKC at age 77 years. She is survived by husband, Russell Gassei and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a native of OKC and attended Central High School and Oklahoma City University.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Delta Zeta Sorority, MacDowell Club, Siloam Chapter No. 463, OES, Oklahoma Art Guild, Oklahoma Museum of Art, New York Genealogical Society, Avion Travelcade Club, YWCA, Oklahoma City Keyboard Club, and active in oil painting circles.

In lieu of flowers your donations would be appreciated by the City Rescue Mission. Services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
