Beatrice Adkins Hargis, 87, Oklahoma City, Okla., died Friday evening, Aug. 2001 at the Canterbury Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 12, 1914 in May, Mo. to Mary P. and James Walter Adkins. She is preceded in death by her mother and father; her brother, Gene and her sister, Kay. She was graduated from Goodman High School in Goodman and attended Harding College. She taught elementary school in Goodman for a few years before she met and married Joseph Hargis. They were members of Mayfair Church of Christ for many years and of Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa for several years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph H. Hargis; her two children, Steve Hargis, Edmond and Norma Ledoux, Oklahoma City; her sisters, Mary Irene Lichlyter, Springdale, Ark. and Ruth Johnson, Georgetown, Texas; her grandchildren, Andy, Sarah, Joe and Stephanie; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Mayfair Church of Christ
on Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma
City.
