Mrs.
Mildred Inez (Triplett) Harris, formerly of Oklahoma City,
passed away on February 3, 2009 after a valiant battle for many
months against breast cancer and crippling arthritis. Best known
as "Millie" by her many friends and family, she had been a
resident of Tallgrass Estates in Bartlesville with her husband
Lee since December 2007.
Mrs. Harris was born in Akron, Ohio on November 22, 1922, the
daughter of Harry and Florence (Steele) Triplett. She graduated
from high school in Akron and attended Akron University and was
a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. During World War II she
moved to California to work for the photography department of
the U.S. Navy. She met her husband, Morgan Lee Harris, a Navy
officer and they were married at Pleasanton, California on June
23, 1944. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1945 where Lee was
President of Harris Packing Company and Millie was a homemaker.
She was also a gracious host to an unending stream of guests in
the home including Bill Bright and Billy Graham . She was an
active member of the First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and
served the church wherever she was needed. She was also an avid
book reader.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her husband, Morgan Lee Harris of
Bartlesville, one daughter, Margaret Lanning and her husband
John of Bartlesville, one son, Randy Harris and his wife, Pam of
Carlton, Oregon, six grandchildren and sixteen great
grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to:
ElderCare of Bartlesville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be held at 11 A.M.
Friday at the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville with Dr. Joe
Fowler officiating. Following services in Bartlesville,
graveside services and interment will be held at 11 A.M.
Saturday at the Memorial Park Cemetery at Edmond, Oklahoma under
the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory of
Bartlesville.
