MRS. LAURA HEFNER
Mrs. Laura HEFNER, 54, of 816 SW 33 died Thursday at a local rest home after an
illness of several months. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of
the Merrit funeral home. Interment will be in Fairlawn cemetery.
Mrs. Hefner was born in McCloud and lived in Shawnee before coming to Oklahoma
City, 25 years ago. She was the wife of Elzie Hefner, a painter and decorator in
the city.
A member of the sisters of the Knights of Pythias, she attended the Capitol Hill
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Chester GOFF, of the home; two
sisters, Mrs. Harry TROWER, PERNELL, and Mrs. Flossie NEWPORT, Drumright, and

Mrs. Laura HEFNER was the former Laura L. ABRAMS; born: abt. 1898; died: abt.
1952. She was also married to a man named GOFF and had two other children by
him, Archie and Faye. They possibly preceded her in death.

?
Mrs. Flossie NEWPORT was the former Flossie Leota ABRAMS, born: 1889; died:
1959.
The above mentioned were sisters, they had a brother Isaac Chester ABRAMS, (not
mentioned in the obituary notice), who possibly preceded them in death, Chester
was born: abt. 1893; died: ? . They were the children of William Congrave ABRAMS
(1863-1901) and Dora May WARD (1870-1906); both came from Chariton Co., Missouri
to Pottawatomie Co., Oklahoma, possibly, between 1893 and 1898.
