Roy Sam Henderson , 65, of Choctaw, OK passed away January
28, 2006 at his home. He was born October 8, 1940 to Sam
Randolph and Cynthia Henderson in McAlester, OK. Sam could be
described as honorable, selfless, kind and respectful. He loved
God, his country, and the World War II veterans, understanding
the price they had to pay for our freedom. He enjoyed
parachuting, riding his Harley, treasure hunting, cooking,
fishing, and crossword puzzles. On Sunday's you could also find
Sam in front of the television watching NASCAR. He was a very
loving person that spent most of his life giving to others,
because he wanted to see that everyone was happy. He had many
friends and cherished each and every one of them. At 9 months of
age, Sam's father passed away. His father was the first OK
Highway Patrolman killed in the line of duty. Sam was then
raised by his maternal grandparents Hattie and William Showen.
At the age of 12 he moved to Oklahoma City where he graduated
from Classen High School. After high school, Sam served in the
Army from 1958 to 1961. He worked for Norman Transcript,
Oklahoma Publishing, Standard Engraving, and The Journal
throughout the years. He just recently retired from General
Motors after 27 years of service.
Sam is survived by his devoted wife Linda; 3 daughters, Tera
Huizenga and husband Tom of Rhode Island, Cheryl Beam and
