Long Illness is Fatal for Park's Owner
Thomas A. Hoover Operated Amusement Center.
Thomas A. Hoover, builder and owner of Elmwood Park, one of
Oklahoma City's oldest amusement resorts, died Wednesday
afternoon in the Hubbard Hospital, of a complication of
illnesses which he had suffered for several years. He was 66
years old.
Hoover came to Oklahoma in 1907, being in the construction
business for a number of years. He built Elmwood which
incorporates a swimming pool, dance pavilion and tourist cabins
in 1921. He and his son, Paul Hoover and the latter's family,
made their home at the park.
[Researchers note: Elmwood Park appears to have been
located at 4901 S Shields, Oklahoma City..
