Attentive, Loving Son
Feb. 23, 1952 - Jan. 30, 2001

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Former Norwood/Montrose resident, Charles E. "Chuck" Hughes, age 48, died unexpectedly of a stroke following an 18 month illness Tuesday evening, Jan. 30, 2001, at his home in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Charles E. Hughes, the son of Dan Hughes Jr. and Jean K. (Frogge) Hughes, was born on Feb. 23, 1952, in Montrose, Colo. Chuck was the grandson of the late Judge Dan and Madie Hughes. He spent his childhood in Norwood and received his education in Norwood and Montrose.

Chuck was the manager of the Continental Manufacturing Co. in Arlington, Texas. Then, with the same boss, he worked for Teams Manufactured Homes in Lawton, Okla., where he remained until his illness forced him to retire.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Montrose.

Chuck's love of fishing, his aquarium, and his many friends did not outweigh his love for his mother. His mother said no one could hope for a more attentive and loving son. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors very blessed to share Chuck's life include his mother, Jean K. Hughes, of Grand Junction; one brother, Fred Hughes, of Idaho; one niece; one nephew; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Dan H. Hughes Jr. in 1967; one sister, Patricia K. Hughes in 1979; and two brothers: John A. Hughes, who died in infancy; and Michael G. Hughes, who died in 1996.

Memorial Services to honor Chuck's life will be officiated by Minister Ronnie Hanna on Friday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose. The service will conclude at the chapel.

Arrangements are being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose; (970) 249-2121.
