Negro Murdered Near Luther

Using a Winchester, Scott Hunter Killed William Moore, His Step-Father

At Luther yesterday morning, Scott Hunter, a negro about 22 years of age shot and killed his stepfather, William Moore, aged 85, committing the deed with a .38 caliber Winchester rifle.

The shooting was the result of a domestic quarrel and occurred at about 8 o'clock yesterday morning on Moore's farm about two miles northeast of Luther, in a negro settlement.

Hunter, after slaying his stepfather, got out of the neighborhood, going afoot in a a northeasterly direction.

Deputy Sheriff M. C. Binion at once organized a posse and started in pursuit of the fugitive murderer.
