Patsy “Shorty” Speer Jenkins, born April 18, 1937,
died May 23, 2007. She was born in Lincoln County and raised in
Kendrick. She loved to travel and believed in living life to its
fullest.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jayme Swafford, her
parents Mack Speer, Minnie and Lester Ash; six brothers, Homer
Leroy, Raymond “Pickey,” Mack “Buddy” Speer and Ray,
Jerry Lee and Danny Ash; and a sister, Nita “Sis”
Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; a son, Michael
Swafford; a daughter, Tamra Copeland and husband Roy, a stepson,
John Jenkins, eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and
a future grandchild. She is also survived by four brothers and a
sister, Johnny Speer and wife Debbie, Billy Joe Jackson, Johnny
Ash and wife Dixie, Billy Don Ash and wife Iva and Doris Jean
Lucas and husband Steve; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends. The family received friends at a reception from 6 to 8
p.m. May 25 in the Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service in
Midwest City.
Services were held at 10 a.m. May 26 at Kendrick
Community Church in Kendrick. Services were under the direction
of Ford Funeral Service.
