Lauren
Moilien Johnson, 23, passed away on January 5, 2009.
She was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Barbara S. Moilien and
Donald R. Johnson on Dec. 30, 1985. When she was a year old, her
family moved to Windsor, where she grew up and then graduated
from Windsor High School in 2004.
Lauren was inherently a remarkably intense and focused young
woman with a passion for basic human rights for all people.
She attended and graduated from the University of Portland in
Portland, Ore., and had been accepted into the masters program
at the Joseph Korbel School for International Studies at Denver
University.
Lauren is survived by her parents, Barbara Moilien and Mel
Ylarraz, of Fox Island, Wash., and Don and Carol Johnson, of
Windsor; her brother, Adam Johnson, of Windsor; and many other
relatives.
During her life, Lauren’s appetite for music, prose and poetry
was voracious, and she surrounded herself with friends measured
by depth who honored her intensity and extraordinary sense of
humor. Her formative years were enriched in part by her work at
Kate Marie’s Coffee Shop, the Li’l Flower Shop and Highland
Meadows Golf Course during her years in Windsor.
Celebrations of her life will take place at Denver University on
Jan. 9th at noon at the Joseph Korbel School for International
Studies, 2201 S. Gaylord St. in Denver, CO and on Jan. 10 at 10
a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7755 Greenstone Trail, Fort
Collins. Another celebration will be held in Portland at a later
date. Cremation will be followed by inurnment at a later date.
Memorial gifts in honor of Lauren may be made to Rafael House,
O.V.S. at the University of Portland and the Minerva Center.
