John D. "Jack" Koberg , Jr. died after a long, productive,
independent life December 6, 2002 in OKC. Jack was born January
12, 1919 in OKC.
He was preceded in death by his parents John D. Koberg , Sr. and
Gretta Rhoads Koberg . He attended Hawthorne Elementary School,
Taft Junior High and graduated from Classen High School in 1937.
He attended the University of Oklahoma prior to his military
service. In 1942, Jack entered the aviation cadet program in the
US Army. After completion of navigation and bombardier training
he was a commissioned officer in the US Army Air Corps. During
WWII Jack served as a bombardier/navigator instructor at bases
in Childress, TX and Las Vegas, Nevada. He had a professional
career lasting over 35 years with the local Caterpillar dealers
(Hoover Equipment, Boecking-Berry Machinery and then Boecking
Machinery). Jack retired from Boecking Machinery in 1984 at the
age of 65 as Executive Vice President. He was intensely proud of
his country and his family.
He is survived by his sister, Gretta Burnett of OKC, nephew,
Randy Burnett and his wife Deane Wallace Burnett of Dallas,
niece Suzy Burnett Morgan and her husband Chip of OKC and their
daughters Stephanie and Michelle.
A memorial service will be held 1 P.M., Wednesday, December 11,
2002 at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical
Research Foundation, Animal Rescue Friends of Nichols Hills or
the charity of your choice. Burial
