Daily Oklahoman Oklahoma City, Oklahoma January 22, 1957 page 5 Dr. Bessie Mayo Rites for Dr. Bessie Mayo, city physician 20 years, will be at 10 am Wednesday in Watts funeral home, with interment in Memorial Park cemetery. Dr. Mayo, 59, died Sunday. Before her retirement several months ago, she operated a rest home at NW 30 and Council road and a medical office at 217 NW 13. A native of Dale, Texas, she received her MD degree from the University of Texas medical school in 1922, and interned at Parkland hospital, Dallas, and Walter Reed hospital, Washington, D. C. Dr. Mayo practiced in Texas several years before coming to Oklahoma City in 1935. She was a member of the Christian church and the American Association of Woman Physicians. She made her home at NW 30 and Council Road.
