J. W. McAllister Rites Planned Today at 2 PM
Rites for J. W. McAllister, 72, early day telephone line builder
who died Wednesday in his home at Harrah, will be at 2 pm Friday
in Hahn funeral chapel. He will be buried in Memorial Park
cemetery.
As a construction crew foreman, McAllister directed stringing of
telephone lines across western Kansas and through southwestern
Oklahoma in territorial days. From 1907 to 1912 he was foreman
for the old Pioneer Telephone and Telegraph Co. here. _iding in
construction of Oklahoma City's first telephone communications.
He later worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and was
retired in 1933.
