Mrs. Mary E. McClure, 72 years old, a prominent Oklahoma City
clubwomen and settler of Oklahoma before the territory was open,
was run down and instantly killed at Thirteenth street and
Harvey, Friday night.
Mrs. McClure was one the of the best known of Oklahoma's pioneer
women. With her husband, the late William J. McClure, and their
three children, she lived on a cattle ranch near Atoka in the
old Indian Territory before Oklahoma was opened to settlement.
Mrs. McClure was the first Grand Matron of the Order of the
Eastern Star in Indian Territory.
Mrs. McClure was a member of the First Presbyterian church and
several social clubs. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. George M.
Church of New York and a son, Dave McClure who lives on a farm
west of Britton. The eldest son, Guy
V. McClure, died several years ago in Oklahoma City. Mrs.
Guy V. McClure, who has made her home in Galveston since her
husband's death.
Funeral services of Mrs. Mary E. McClure will be held Tuesday
afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Masonic temple. Burial will be in
Fairlawn cemetery. Order of Eastern Star will conduct Final
Rites for Pioneer.
