Mrs. Kee R. McKee Buried In Cadiz
Death In Oklahoma City Of Beautiful Life Once a Resident Here
Friends and Loved Ones Pay Last Tribute To The Memory of Splendid Lady
The remains of Mrs. Kee R. McKee, a brief mention of whose death at the McKee home in Oklahoma City was made in THE RECORD last week, was consigned to their last resting place at East End Cemetery in Cadiz last Thursday.
Mrs. McKee died on Monday afternoon after a illness of less than a week. Tuesday morning at eleven o'clock funeral services were held in Oklahoma City, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Mobeley, and the remains were accompanied to Cadiz by Mr. McKee, a sister, Mrs. Felix B. Wilkinson, of this city, who was visiting her when she was stricken, and the son, Mr. Robert Letcher McKee and Mrs. McKee, and the daughter Mrs. Henry C. Thomas and Mr. Thomas.
Two sisters of Mr. McKee, Miss Elizabeth McKee and Mrs. Roper, of Memphis, and Mrs. Will Kimmons, of Hopkinsville, were also here to attend the burial.
A large number of friends and loved ones were present, and brief services were held at the grave conducted by Rev. Carl C. Monin, of the Christian church.
The brief wire that brought the news of Mrs. McKee's death to Cadiz was received with deep sorrow and sadness.
While she had been away from Cadiz for twenty two years, she had often been back to visit friends and loved ones of days past, and her sweet disposition and kindly greetings were always a benediction to friends who always delighted in her return.
Just last March she was here on a visit and to all appearances she was the picture of health. She greeted old friends with her characteristic cordiality and accepted in a most gracious manner the kindly greetings of friends of long ago.
Mrs. McKee was born in Cadiz and was the oldest of a family of three children of the late Blake Baker and Mrs. Harrietta T. Baker. She grew to womanhood here, and was united in marriage in April 1892, to Mr. McKee. Two children died in infancy, and Mr. Robert Letcher McKee and Mrs. Henry C. Thomas are the two surviving children.
She moved with the family to Oklahoma City in December, 1903, where the husband had met with much success in business, and had since resided in that city.
Uniting with the church here in girlhood she ever remained true to her early church connection and in her adopted home was ever devoted to her Christian obligation and took much interest in her church.
The date of her burial here was also the anniversary of her birth.
The mother died last year and an only sister, Mrs. Felix B. Wilkinson of this city, and a brother, Mr. Thomas K. Baker, of Montana, survive her.
