October 17, 1911 page 7

Mrs. Matthew Ross McVey, wife of Dr. Matthew Ross McVey, died at her residence, 221 West Tenth street, Monday morning, October 16. She was born in Percy, Northumberland county, Canada, September 11, 1871. Her childhood and early womanhood were spent in Rochester, New York. Later she removed to Chicago, where in August 1900, she was married to Matthew Ross McVey of that city. Some years ago she developed an asthmatic affection which necessitated a change of climate. Searching through many states, Dr. McVey reached Oklahoma City in September 1908. Finding conditions favorable, Mrs. McVey joined him the following month. Her complete relief from throat affection was obtained but later there developed a serious stomach aliment which sapped her vitality and brought about her death.

Being of woman of exceptional business and executive ability she was of inestimable assessable to her husband in building up his business in the new location. Her kindly nature and charitable disposition were such as to readily draw friends where were bound to her as with hands of steel by her sterling worth and sincerity.

Liberal and board minded in her attitude toward others, quite and unobtrusive in her beliefs and actions, the memory of her steadfast, true and sincere character will rest in benediction upon all who knew her. The funeral services will be conducted from St. Joseph's Cathedral, Fourth street and Harvey Avenue, Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock.
