Bobby Merriman of 1909 Three Stars Road, Edmond, had to meet a Tee Time in the sky at 1:10 AM on October 24, 2004. He made it. Bobby was born in Wichita, Kansas on January 15, 1925. He was a 1943 graduate of Wichita North High School. He lettered in football, baseball and swimming. He was an Eagle Scout. He played semi pro baseball after graduation.
He joined the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1943. While in the service he received his bachelor's degree from Sacramento State College. He served 30 years as a Navigator in the Air Force, retired as a Lt. Colonel. Bobby was a decorated Veteran of World War II, the Korean Crisis and Viet Nam War. Upon retirement he worked as a Landman for Alphine Energy, Edmond, Oklahoma and attended U.C.O. where he received his master's degree.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anita Colleen, his daughter, Connie Farris, and his son, David Merriman, his grandchildren, Tod Perry, Cort Farris, Drew Farris, Robert Merriman, Nikki Dorsey, David Gill, J.B. Barry, and three great granddaughters, Kelsey, Samantha and Ashton.
Services will be held on Friday, October 29th, 2004 at 5 PM at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church, 1st & University, Edmond. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Oklahoma Children's Cancer Association, P.O. Box 96292, Oklahoma City, OK 73143. Thanks for being his friend and all of your support.
