Morphine Ends A Miserable Career
Rose Milton Commits Suicide in California Avenue Resort.
During an attack of the "blues" following an evening of conviviality,
Rose Milton, aged 25, took a dose of morphine at midnight Thursday, dying
yesterday morning from its effects. The young woman was an inmate of Maude
Stewart's place, 2 1/2 West California avenue, and had been there for
several months.
The man who was present when she took the morphine was not aware of the
nature of the drug until the suffering of the woman called attention to her
serious condition. Physicians were called but were unable to save the life
of the unfortunate woman who died yesterday morning at 11 o'clock. Her body
was removed to the morgue of Street and Harper awaiting burial. Her
relatives at Little Rock have wired that they desire to have the body sent
to that city for burial, but state that they are unable to pay the expense
of same, and the place of interment has not been determined upon.
