Services for Madaline Smith Moore of Oklahoma City were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday
in the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell with Rev. James Pittman
officiating.
Mrs. Moore was born May 27, 1913, near Paoli, the daughter of Frank Arthur and
Lillian Strong Smith, and died July 10, 1999, at the Edmond Medical Center.
Mrs. Moore grew up in Purcell and graduated from Purcell High School in 1935.
She attended Oklahoma University for two years and National School of Business
where she graduated in 1941. After graduation she worked for Rackley
Furniture-Hardware & Funeral Home in Purcell before moving to Oklahoma City
in 1943. In Oklahoma City she was the bookkeeper for the Oklahoma Vending
Company and retired after working 35 years. She and Alden L. Moore were married
in Gainesville, Texas, in 1948.
A member of Trinity Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and the Purcell Rebekah
Lodge, Mrs. Moore was an avid OU fan and also loved all animals. In honor of her
85th birthday, a party was held at the opening game of the Bricktown Ballpark.
Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Beryle Moore of Ardmore, Billie Russell
of Thackerville and Frankie Tucker of Texas City, Texas; cousins, nieces,
nephews and friends.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lillian Smith; her
husband, Alden Moore in 1978; and two infant brothers.
Arrangements were directed by Wilson-Little Funeral Home with interment in
Hillside Cemetery, Purcell. Pallbearers were Curtis Moore, Robert Moore, Juan
Carlos Strong, Tim Moore, Chris McCormick and Johnie Haynes.
