MULKYS IN OKLAHOMA
The Daily Oklahoman of Oklahoma City, Okla., has devoted
considerable space to a description of the $20,000 home of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank L. Mulky, now under course of construction, and
also produced an excellent picture of the structure. Mr. Mulky
will be remembered here as a son of Major Mulky, deceased, a
long time resident of Bloomington.
The following is the article: "Four massive Corinthian
pillars stand as sentinels at the entrance of the new home of
Frank L. Mulky, 201 West Fourteenth Street. The residence to be
one of the handsomest in Oklahoma City both exteriorally and
interiorally, is rapidly nearing completion. It will be ready
for occupancy within another month.
"Inside the Georgian-type of colonial architecture has been
carried out in a reproduction of a Salem, Mass., home designed
by Samuel McIntyre, a colonial architect of the early days. The
wainscoting, panelings and door facings are of pure white.
"In the dining room and the reception room on the first
floor the mantels and hearths are of white marble with the white
colonial and ivory finish throughout.
"An outstanding feature of the Mulky home is that it is to
be a gem of light and ventilation. Scores of roomy windows are
to be found in every part of the structure.
"It doesn't take the eye of a connoisseur to tell that a
woman's hand had much to do with the planning of the interior of
the house, so well have the many conveniences, that only a woman
would foresee, being arranged.
"The answer to this is that Mrs. Mulky has seen practically
every piece of timber that has gone into the construction, being
at her new home every day to consult with the builders about the
most minute details.
"As a result, the house is a model of modernity and
convenience. There are clothes closets and pantries galore. The
kitchen with its rows of shelves for utensils and a large white
enamel basin would delight the heart of any housewife.
"Mrs. Mulky takes special pride in the room at the
northeast corner upstairs which leads off from her living room.
It is to be antique to a degree, the finish being after the
style in vogue in Independence Hall, Philadelphia. A bed of the
vintage of '76 with seven foot posts is to be a part of the
furnishings of the room."
