OBITUARY
One of the saddest things in the history of our school has come to us this
month; the death of Minnie Partridge. She was one of those it seems
hard to spare; so generous and loving as a friend, and so gentle and sweet in
her manner to all, that everyone will miss her; the life of her class and the
heart of her home.
Minnie was born in Flint, Mich., in December 1887, and there spent all her
school life, until the fall of 1901, when the three comrades, father, mother
and daughter, came here to Oklahoma City. She entered the high school in the
freshman class late in the fall, and until this term has been a member of the
'05s. In all her school work she has shown exceptional ability, that in
addition to her winning personality, has made her the favorite with her
teachers and schoolmates alike.
When the basket ball girls organized their team last year, it was Minnie
who was chosen for captain, and who filled the position so ably.
Early this summer, because she was not feeling well, she went to Colorado,
and with one of her dearest friends, Irma Owens, but soon returned
feeling compelled to acknowledge that she was much worse. Within a week she
was really sick and for three long anxious months she fought for her life with
typhoid and lung trouble. She died in the morning of Wednesday, October 12.
Brave and ambitious always, she wanted so much to be with her class this
year, and promised that she would be with us all again before Christmas. Dear
little girl, she will be with us always, it is all we can say now.
Services were held at the home Friday afternoon, and the mother and father
took the body to their former home at Flint, Mich., for burial.
