Bessie Beatrice ( Reid )Patmon, was born January 24, 1918. She
died December 7, 1999. She was a member of Redeemed Missionary
Baptist Church. Bessie was an accomplished dancer and superb
athlete. She was known to have perfected 157 steps to the
Charleston. She had an opportunity to be a child star. Bessie
was known for her creativity and resourcefulness in managing her
household and caring for her family. She was president of the
Community Action Program in Crescent, and successfully obtained
the first Community Action building and initiated the Head Start
Program.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bose C. Patmon; her
parents, Yancy and Currie Reid; a sister, Olether Louise
Sullivan; son, Louis C. Patmon;
daughter, Dorothy Patmon; and a granddaughter, Debra Anderson.
Bessie is survived by brother Henry Reid and wife Ethel of Enid;
five sons: Willie & Frederick of MI; Harry & Sanford of OKC, and
Bose Jr. of Crescent; ten daughters: Olether & Ruth of Crescent,
Marjorie, Beatrice & Althina of OKC, Rozen of Waukomis, Helen of
MA, Adelaide (Sue) of Norman, Constance & Celia of TX;
sons-in-law: Austin Kenner & James Carson; daughters-in-law:
Opal, Billie, Cassandra & Denise; (38) grandchildren and (28)
great-grandchildren; and a hostof other relatives & friends.
Services will be held at 10 AM on Sat., Dec. 11th at Redeemed
Missionary Baptist Church in OKC.
