Spencer Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Accident

Elk City (AP) - Authorities say a Spencer man was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 in Beckham County.

Twenty-three-year-old Kelly Wayne Payne died at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City after sustaining head, internal and leg injuries in the 11:44 A-M accident.

The Highway Patrol says Payne was riding on the rails in the bed of the westbound truck when he lost his grip and was struck by the truck's rear tires.

The other occupants of the truck weren't hurt.

Kelly Wayne Payne-Adams, age 23, passed away March 25, 2007 in Elk City, Oklahoma. He was born May 3, 1983 in Oklahoma City, OK to his father, Leonard Adams and mother, Elizabeth Payne. He attended Taft Middle School and continued his education in Lexington, OK. Kelly liked motorcycles, driving trucks and working on cars and stereos. He was always helping others and will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Payne of the home; father, Leonard Adams of Pampa, TX; three brothers, Scott Speer, Randy Payne and Jon Payne; seven sisters, Virginia Kellogg, LeQueta Presson, Lesa Mendonca, Cathey Nichols, Vickey Pendleton, Traci Wood and Lori Bridgens; twenty-eight nieces and nephews; and his Pit Bull, Tigger. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 30, 2007 at Kolb Cemetery, Spencer, Oklahoma.
