Leroy Earl Payton , 76, of Norman, passed away Dec 9, 2005,
in Ardmore. He was born May 4, 1929, in Norman to Adrian Payton
and Ethel (Morgan) Payton . His first job was shining shoes and
then he worked as a local paper boy. He attended Norman HS until
joining the Army on Oct 22, 1946. He served in Korea and Japan
and was awarded the WW II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation
Medal. He came back to Norman and married Marcia Lee Hatley and
they had 2 daughters. He worked in the oil field and supervised
electric highline construction. He enjoyed dancing at the Senior
Citizens Center. Survivors include Barbara Payton Lewis, of
Blanchard; ex-wife, Marcia Lee Hatley, of Blanchard; significant
other, Juanita Rose; of Purcell; a son-in-law, Greg Nelson, of
Pigs Trail, Ark; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents; a daughter,
Shirley Marie Payton Nelson; two sisters and one brother.
Service will be 10 am Dec 17, 2005, at the Primrose Chapel.
Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery.
