Vernon H. Petty entered this world on December 15, 1925. In
1949, Vernon married his beautiful and loving wife of 56 years,
Mary Petty . Together they raised five children while living
throughout the U.S. and abroad while Vernon served 20 years in
the U.S. Army. While he completed only eight years of formal
education, his sharp intellect and quick wit allowed him to
retire at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. After his Army
retirement, he then went on to work at Stanford University where
he served as an Electronic Technician and worked and performed
various types of research. My grandpa had an unconditional love
for his family, friends, and everyone he encountered. He loved
God, reading the Bible, playing on his computer, and drinking
coffee with friends. Grandpa, we miss you, but know you are in a
better place.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and
Violet Petty ; 1 son, John Petty ; 2 brothers, Luther and Eugene
Petty . He leaves behind his devoted wife, Mary; children, Kathy
and husband, Don Ramero, Mike and wife, Mary Petty , Ron Petty ,
and Shuri and husband, Joe Bryant; siblings, Verbal Parker,
Charles Petty , Harry Petty , Jeanette Harris, Yvonne Womack,
Donna Phillips, David Petty , Denis Petty , and Edward Petty ;
grandchildren, Marcy, Don, Kim, Mallory, Ashlee, Joel and wife,
Jill, Jeremy, Jenny and husband, Andy, Nikki, Kevin, Aaron, and
Haley; 4 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
